Environment
At D+H, we recognize our environmental responsibilities. For instance, we certified our Canadian cheque products in 2007 with the SmartWood Program of Rainforest Alliance Inc. This certification, under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) guidelines, attests to the fact that we use paper products produced using responsible forestry practices.
We also use
‘green’ energy. A number of our facilities are powered by Bullfrog electricity, which comes exclusively from wind and hydro facilities that have been certified as low impact by Environment Canada.
Furthermore, we encourage our employees to be environmentally responsible through such initiatives as Eco-Wise, our quarterly environmental newsletter, and an employee sponsored environmental awareness week that teaches us all how we can make a real contribution at work and at home, and how we can involve our families and teach our kids how to participate as well.
As a result, we were recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2010, in a competition organized by MediaCorp, the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition. Our entire organization is quite proud of this recognition, but we don’t plan on resting on our past success. As our organization continues to grow and evolve, we’ll keep working hard to find new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and increase the positive impact we have on the environment.
